Pakistani Army MI-17 Helicopter Crashes in POK, All Personnel Confirmed Dead

Rawalpindi, June 10: A tragic incident occurred near Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, when a military helicopter crashed. Local media reported this information from a military spokesperson.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Army confirmed that an MI-17 helicopter from the army’s aviation wing crashed on Wednesday near Muzaffarabad. All military personnel aboard the helicopter lost their lives in the incident.

According to the major daily Dawn, the helicopter experienced a technical failure during flight, leading to the crash. The military spokesperson stated that the accident was so severe that no one aboard survived.

The statement read, “All personnel on the helicopter have died. No one survived this incident.”

Upon receiving news of the crash, the army’s rescue and relief teams promptly arrived at the site and initiated a recovery operation.

The Pakistani Army has ordered the formation of an investigation board to determine the actual causes of the accident. This board will conduct a thorough examination of the technical failure and other possible factors.

Questions have arisen regarding the incident, particularly since it occurred in POK, where protests against the Pakistani government have intensified. Initial reports suggest that the crash happened during an emergency landing, but discussions are ongoing about whether the helicopter might have been targeted in an attack amid rising violence, protests, and security tensions in the area.

The crash occurred during a time of heightened unrest in POK, with recent protests led by the JK Joint Action Committee (JKJAC) escalating. Clashes between demonstrators and security forces have resulted in fatalities and numerous arrests.

Growing discontent among the populace is evident due to communication restrictions, internet service shutdowns, and the extensive deployment of security forces. In this tense atmosphere, the helicopter crash has raised many new questions.

According to Geo News, detailed information regarding the number and identities of the military personnel aboard the helicopter has not yet been released. The causes of the crash and other facts will be disclosed once the investigation is complete.
