New Delhi, June 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the NDA conclave on Wednesday, marking 12 years of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at Bharat Mandapam. He criticized the Congress party, stating that during their rule, there was no governance, policy, intent, or decisive action to boost the growth rate. Modi recalled that it was only under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee that the nation witnessed a glimpse of accelerated development. Unfortunately, in 2004, the country fell back into instability under Congress’s grip.
He emphasized that a significant achievement of the NDA’s 12 years is that the nation has liberated itself from Congress’s machinations. According to Modi, Congress had plunged the country into a state of helplessness and despair. The narrative that development in India occurs slowly was a clever branding of their failures as the “Hindu growth rate.” He argued that this label should have been attributed to the “Congress growth rate,” characterized by ineffective governance, unclear policies, and a lack of decisive action.
Modi posed a critical question: if so much progress can be made in 12 years, why was there stagnation for decades? He contrasted the “Congress growth rate” with the NDA’s achievements, stating that the former kept people waiting while the latter delivers results. The current administration ensures that work is completed promptly and on a large scale. Thus, the story from 2014 to 2026 is not merely about statistics; it is about a nation that has decided to unleash its full potential.
He pointed out that while many major economies are struggling, India achieved a growth rate of 7.7% for 2025-26, with the last quarter ending March 31 showing a growth of 7.8%. This success is not easily attained; India has emerged from the “Fragile Five” and is now one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.
Modi reiterated that the previous administration forced people to wait, delaying progress. In contrast, the current government delivers results, making the narrative from 2014 to 2026 one of realization and advancement. It is the story of a nation that has achieved remarkable outcomes and is diligently working towards reaching new heights.
