Bengaluru, June 10: Alberto Antonio Guani Amarilla, the Ambassador of Uruguay to India, has commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ emphasizing his commitment to addressing global challenges and promoting peace. He believes that PM Modi has established himself as a global leader, instilling hope for a better future worldwide.

In a special interview, Amarilla stated, “Prime Minister Modi has advanced the idea of viewing the entire world as one family. He has consistently focused on global challenges and demonstrated a strong commitment to peace. I believe he has become a global leader, and people around the world hope that his contributions will help create a better future for all.”

When asked about PM Modi’s impact on India’s global standing over the past 12 years, the Uruguayan ambassador noted that Modi has played a significant role in strengthening India’s position on the world stage.

He pointed out that PM Modi has effectively advocated for the interests of developing countries and has initiated several efforts to enhance cooperation between South America and India.

Amarilla highlighted the importance of PM Modi’s visits to Brazil and Argentina last year, expressing optimism that collaboration between the two regions will expand in the future. “Prime Minister Modi’s visits to Brazil and Argentina were very significant, and we hope that such cooperation continues to grow. Currently, trade between India and South America is approximately $50 billion, which is expected to reach around $100 billion by 2030. There are immense possibilities for cooperation between both regions, and this is just the beginning,” he said.

Regarding India-Uruguay bilateral relations, Amarilla mentioned that the ties between the two countries are continuously strengthening. He noted that both nations recently celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations, and India is set to open its embassy in Uruguay soon.

“We are very optimistic as India is about to open its embassy in Uruguay. We have high hopes for this development, especially with the possibility of Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar attending the inauguration ceremony,” he added.

Amarilla further expressed hope for strengthening relations between the President of Uruguay and PM Modi. He mentioned that the two leaders met in Brazil last year and expressed positive expectations regarding a future visit from the Uruguayan President to India and a potential visit by PM Modi to Uruguay.
