Patna, June 8: The announcement of Pawan Singh, the ‘Power Star’ of Bhojpuri cinema, as a candidate for the Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) elections by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has brought immense joy to his family. His elder brother, Guddu Singh, expressed their happiness, stating that Pawan’s unique identity in the Bhojpuri industry will also shine in politics.
Guddu Singh remarked, “We are overjoyed that Pawan Singh has been nominated for the Bihar Legislative Council elections. Once he becomes an MLC, our happiness will multiply. The recognition he has gained as an actor and singer will also elevate our family’s name in politics. We sincerely thank the BJP for placing their trust in Pawan Singh.”
Following his nomination, Pawan Singh also expressed gratitude towards the BJP leadership. Speaking to the media, he said, “I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Bihar BJP President Sanjay Sarawagi, and Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary for entrusting me with this responsibility.”
Pawan Singh added, “I bow to the people of Bihar and promise to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to me with utmost sincerity.”
The BJP released its list of candidates for the Bihar Legislative Council elections on June 5, which included Pawan Singh, Sanjay Mayukh, Anil Thakur, and Sheela Pandit. However, Pawan Singh’s name garnered the most attention.
It is noteworthy that Pawan Singh joined the BJP in 2014 and has been actively involved in the party’s events and campaigns since then. His name was widely discussed during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections when the BJP declared him a candidate for the Asansol seat in West Bengal. However, he later declined to contest. Subsequently, he ran for the Karakat seat in Bihar but did not win.
