Mumbai, August 21: Actress Divya Dutta has a deep connection with animals and frequently expresses her love and concern for their safety. On Friday, she made a heartfelt appeal regarding the safety of street dogs through a special post on social media.
In her Instagram post, Dutta shared images featuring a street dog sitting on her makeup chair. She recounted how the dog appeared helpless outside her makeup area, prompting her to invite it in.
Dutta wrote, “The dog was searching for food on set, while people either ignored it or shooed it away. At that moment, I was getting my makeup touched up. The dog peeked through the door, as if asking, ‘Can I come in?’ I simply said, ‘Come in,’ and it quietly entered, a bit scared. I asked if it wanted something to eat. Later, it wagged its tail and sat beside me.”
She mentioned that her assistant later brought food and milk for the dog. “It was very hungry and finished everything my assistant gave it without asking for more. It just sat there, perhaps feeling safe in the room. Seeing it brought smiles to everyone’s faces,” she added.
Dutta raised important questions about why we often chase away or harm those who depend on us, stating, “They have just as much right to be with us.” She admitted that she used to be afraid of street dogs but has since changed her perspective. “Whenever I see these animals being targeted, I step forward to help them. They don’t ask for much, just a little food and love. Who are we to decide who stays with us? That’s up to a higher power,” she emphasized.
She concluded her post with a hopeful note, saying, “Our job is to coexist peacefully with everyone in this universe. I still have a slight smile on my face. I hope someone else befriends her today. Goodbye, little one… may you always find a safe place.”
