New Delhi, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The Delhi police have mobilized ten teams to locate and arrest Hariram Bansal, the owner of a five-story building that collapsed in Satya Niketan. Following the issuance of a lookout notice, efforts to apprehend him have intensified. As of now, the tragic incident has resulted in the deaths of seven people, while twelve others have been rescued from the rubble.
The teams consist of local district police, special staff members, and officials from various departments. Each team is led by an officer of the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP). Senior officials are overseeing the operation and coordinating searches across multiple locations.
In their pursuit of Bansal, police have conducted raids in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. An FIR has been filed against him and others in connection with the building’s collapse. Authorities report that the structure was being used as paying guest accommodation and was undergoing renovation in the basement when it suddenly fell.
Witnesses noted that the building, known as “Hostel Days,” was housing several students from nearby colleges at the time of the collapse. Concerns have grown about the safety and structural integrity of nearby buildings, especially after another structure reportedly also collapsed.
Rescue operations continue, with fears that many students may still be trapped in the debris, as numerous students from Delhi University reside in the area.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the site again on Monday to assess safety measures and review ongoing rescue efforts. She confirmed that an FIR had been filed against the building owner and warned that strict action would be taken against any officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) found negligent in this matter.
