Thiruvananthapuram, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Kerala Chief Minister VD Satheesan took aim at BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday, responding to personal comments made about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Satheesan asserted that such statements would not be accepted by either the Congress party or the people of Kerala.
He emphasized that both Congress and Rahul Gandhi stand as defenders of democracy and secularism. Satheesan challenged Chandrasekhar and other BJP leaders to reflect on their commitment to secular values.
The Chief Minister condemned Chandrasekhar’s personal attack on Gandhi, noting that the Congress leader holds a significant place in the hearts of millions across the nation. He criticized Chandrasekhar for resorting to baseless allegations and trivial remarks, suggesting that such behavior reveals a lack of political integrity.
“Chandrasekhar should remember that when he points a finger at Rahul Gandhi, the rest of the fingers point back at him,” Satheesan remarked. He also expressed concerns over the credibility of the Election Commission and the impartiality of autonomous institutions, stating that serious questions are being raised regarding the functioning of democratic institutions.
According to Satheesan, Gandhi and the Congress are courageously voicing concerns about these issues, which has caused unease within the RSS family. He argued that such rhetoric would not successfully divert public attention from real issues.
The Chief Minister asserted that threats or challenges cannot undermine the efforts of Gandhi and Congress to protect citizens’ fundamental rights and ensure equal justice for all. He urged Chandrasekhar and the BJP to confront genuine issues affecting the public rather than making hollow claims and advancing policies they deem “anti-people.”
Satheesan’s remarks come amid escalating political tensions between Congress and BJP, particularly concerning criticisms directed at the Election Commission and voter lists. He linked the BJP’s attacks on Gandhi to broader concerns regarding democracy, secularism, and the independence of constitutional institutions.
