Dehradun, June 17: In a significant meeting chaired by Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj, the 24th session of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) took place at the IHM Auditorium in Garhi Cantt. The meeting focused on various crucial proposals related to the tourism sector, with most of them receiving approval. Special emphasis was placed on trekking, adventure tourism, job creation, and the development of tourism infrastructure.
Minister Maharaj stated that implementing these proposals would create new job opportunities for local youth and enhance the state’s trekking and adventure tourism activities.
In an exclusive conversation, the minister highlighted the importance of the meeting, saying, “Today we held our 24th meeting, which was extremely significant. We discussed trekking and adventure tourism in detail. Promoting these activities will not only strengthen the tourism sector but also add significant value to it.”
He expressed satisfaction with the statistics from the Char Dham Yatra, noting that this year the pilgrimage reached record levels. A total of 5,76,559 pilgrims visited Yamunotri, while 6,06,583 arrived at Gangotri. Kedarnath saw 12,42,917 visitors, and 11,28,550 pilgrims visited Badrinath. Additionally, 96,152 devotees reached Hemkund Sahib, bringing the total number of pilgrims for the Char Dham Yatra to 36,50,761.
He urged pilgrims to prioritize their health by consulting doctors before embarking on the journey. “Take breaks during the trip. Travel at a relaxed pace and prioritize your well-being,” he advised.
The enthusiasm among devotees for Uttarakhand’s sacred Char Dham Yatra continues to grow, particularly at Gangotri and Yamunotri, where the number of visitors is setting new records.
On the other hand, the district administration reported that the Char Dham Yatra is operating smoothly. All necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety, health, and convenience of the pilgrims.
