Bhubaneswar, April 3: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chara Majhi has appealed to citizens to assist in making the 2027 census a success. He urged the public to share their information on the self-enumeration portal before the door-to-door survey begins.
Majhi emphasized the importance of full cooperation from the public for the upcoming census. He explained that this initiative is being conducted under the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of India, in coordination with the Odisha government’s Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
The first phase of the census, which includes house listing and housing census, will commence on April 16. Trained enumerators and supervisors will collect data door-to-door from April 16 to May 15. Prior to this, a self-enumeration program will run from April 1 to midnight on April 15.
During this self-enumeration phase, citizens can enter their details directly on the portal.
Majhi stated, “I request everyone who has not yet provided their information to please share it through this portal and cooperate with the census. I have completed my self-enumeration; you should too.”
He further added, “From April 16, trained enumerators will visit homes to gather information. This data is crucial for planning and implementing development programs at both the state and national levels. Therefore, I urge everyone to cooperate and help make this program a success.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the state government has made all necessary preparations for the 2027 census. He encouraged citizens to provide accurate information when enumerators visit their homes, contributing to the development of the state and country.
Majhi reiterated the Odisha government’s request for full participation to ensure the success of this national program.
Notably, the Odisha government has instructed all departments, district administrations, and urban local bodies not to transfer officials and staff involved in the census work, ensuring a smooth operation for the 2027 census. Comprehensive preparations have been made for this process.
