Irans President Praises Azerbaijan as a Brotherhood Nation

New Delhi, April 4: Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian recently commended the support and sympathy shown by the government and people of Azerbaijan during discussions with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for the solidarity displayed by Azerbaijan. He stated, “In my conversation with my brother, President Ilham Aliyev, I acknowledged the empathy and support from the Azerbaijani government and its people. Friend and brotherly nations stand by each other in difficult times, and the deeper the cultural roots of these relations, the stronger the bond becomes.”

Pezeshkian also referenced a previous conversation with Azerbaijan’s former President Heydar Aliyev in another post. He wrote, “In my discussion with my brother Heydar Aliyev, I expressed my gratitude for the sympathy and support from the government and people of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Friend and brotherly nations recognize each other during times of hardship and crisis; the deeper the cultural roots of these relations, the more robust the bond grows.”

In a statement made a day earlier, Pezeshkian emphasized that the Iranian people harbor no animosity towards the American people. He accused the U.S. administration of acting as “Israel’s proxy” against Iran.

Pezeshkian stated, “The Iranian people do not hold hostility towards any nation, including those in America, Europe, or neighboring countries.” He added, “Despite facing foreign interventions and pressures throughout our glorious history, Iranians have always distinguished between governments and their people.”

He further asserted that Iran has “never chosen the path of aggression, expansionism, colonialism, or dominance in its modern history,” despite enduring occupation, invasion, and pressure from global powers.
