New Delhi, August 19: Amar Pal Maurya, the newly appointed national president of the BJP OBC Morcha, has shared his insights regarding his new role, the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, and the political strategies of the Congress and Samajwadi Party concerning the OBC community. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president Nitin Nabin, and other senior party leaders for his appointment.
In response to Rahul Gandhi‘s call for the OBC community to unite against Prime Minister Modi, Maurya criticized Congress, stating that the community is now aware and understands the party’s political maneuvers. He emphasized that Congress’s belief that it can gain political advantage by addressing OBC issues is a misconception. Reflecting on Congress’s long tenure in power, Maurya questioned what was done for the backward and impoverished classes during that time.
He challenged Rahul Gandhi to account for Congress’s past governance, particularly in Rae Bareli, a region long influenced by the party. Maurya asked how many backward and poor families received housing and other amenities under Congress rule. He insisted that before demanding accountability from the country, Congress should first clarify its record in Rae Bareli.
As the Uttar Pradesh elections approach, Maurya also launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party. He stated that the party must first understand the definition of the backward class. He pointed out that during the Samajwadi Party’s rule, numerous cases of land grabbing from backward individuals were reported, questioning the party’s sensitivity towards these communities.
Maurya ridiculed the Samajwadi Party’s inconsistent definition of its political alliances, suggesting that the public will not be misled by changing narratives. He asserted that the OBC community in Uttar Pradesh is now politically aware and will not be swayed by election-time promises.
Criticizing Congress further, Maurya noted that the party has been facing continuous defeats and struggles to find a path forward politically. He remarked that directly opposing Prime Minister Modi is not an easy task for Congress, as various social groups support him. He accused Congress of attempting to mobilize the OBC community under the guise of movements for political gain, asserting that this strategy will not yield any advantage.
When asked about the BJP’s strategy in light of the significant OBC population in Uttar Pradesh, Maurya stated that the OBC community is aligned with the BJP nationwide. He highlighted that the Modi government’s initiatives are reaching impoverished families who previously lacked access to government schemes. The positive impact of these policies has fostered trust in the BJP and Prime Minister Modi among various social groups.
Maurya reiterated that the BJP’s goal extends beyond merely winning elections; it aims to advance the vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047. He believes that the participation of backward and extremely backward classes will be crucial in achieving this objective.
He concluded by assuring that the BJP OBC Morcha will strive to ensure that the benefits of central and state government schemes reach the last individual in society, and that people are informed about government policies. The involvement of backward and extremely backward classes in national development is on the rise. Maurya expressed confidence that the OBC community in Uttar Pradesh will stand firmly with the BJP and play a significant role in the upcoming elections.
