New Delhi, August 19: The death toll from the CNG cylinder explosion in a truck has risen to three in Delhi. Authorities confirmed that another injured individual has succumbed to their injuries. All the deceased were employees at the fuel station.
According to officials, the explosion occurred on Wednesday while the truck was refueling at a gas station near the Tikri Kalan Metro Station in outer Delhi. The Delhi Police reported that six individuals sustained injuries in the incident.
One of the deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Manish, a resident of Baba Haridas Colony in West Delhi. The second victim is identified as 32-year-old Sunny from Nizam Pur. The identity of the third victim remains unknown, but police have confirmed that all three were employees at the CNG pump.
Officials stated that the explosion happened while gas was being filled into the truck’s CNG cylinder. There are concerns that the death toll may increase.
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) reported that the six injured individuals were transported to the hospital in critical condition. They were reportedly standing nearby when the explosion occurred.
The DFS received notification of the blast at 3:37 PM, prompting the dispatch of six fire engines to the scene.
Upon learning of the explosion, large teams from the police and fire department quickly arrived. The injured were subsequently admitted to a nearby hospital.
As of now, the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
A fire service official stated, “An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the explosion.”
Officials noted that chaos ensued in the area following the blast. Firefighters took all necessary precautionary measures at the scene. Residents have been urged to stay away from the area until the investigation is complete. Authorities confirmed that the situation is currently under control.
