Notorious Thief Arrested in New Delhi While on Parole

New Delhi, April 6: The Anti-Snatching and Burglary (ASB) cell of the Eastern District has achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting an active thief who continued committing crimes while on parole. Thanks to the swift and coordinated actions of the police, not only was the suspect apprehended, but stolen items were also recovered.

The incident occurred on April 5 when a man named Raju filed an online complaint about a burglary at his home. He reported that two mobile phones, an Oppo and an iPhone, were stolen. Based on this complaint, an e-FIR was registered at the Kalyanpuri police station, and an investigation commenced.

Given the seriousness of the case, a special team from the ASB cell was formed, led by Sub-Inspector Ajay Tomar. The team included ASI Sabu, Head Constable Shailendra, Manendra, Subodh, Navdeep, and Constables Mordhwaj and Anantpal. Under the supervision of ACP Ops East Pawan Kumar, the team quickly began their work. The police employed both technical and manual methods for the investigation, reviewing CCTV footage from the area, which partially captured the suspect’s face. With the help of local intelligence and informants, the suspect was identified.

After gathering solid information, the police team raided the Kalyanpuri area and arrested the 36-year-old suspect, Deep Singh, also known as Deepak or Deepla, from his home. During the search, three mobile phones were recovered, two of which were confirmed to be stolen in this case. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to his crime. It was revealed that he is illiterate and works as a laborer, but his addiction led him down the path of crime. He was on parole until April 12, 2026, yet continued to commit thefts.

According to police records, Deep Singh is a habitual offender with around 15 prior criminal cases against him, including serious charges such as robbery, snatching, theft, extortion, and attempted murder. The police are currently engaged in further investigations.
