Washington, June 12: President Donald Trump has stated that recent U.S. military actions have transformed Iran’s leadership structure. He noted that a new leadership group has emerged in Tehran, appearing more willing to engage in dialogue with Washington.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump emphasized that military pressure has significantly altered Iran’s political landscape, potentially paving the way for a nuclear agreement. He suggested that if a deal is successful, Iran could have a chance to rebuild its nation.
“This is a form of regime change,” Trump remarked, indicating that he finds the new leaders to be more rational and sensible compared to their predecessors.
This statement comes at a time when Trump expressed optimism that a deal between the U.S. and Iran is imminent, one that could permanently prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
According to the President, the current Iranian leadership negotiating with the U.S. is markedly different from the previous government.
“We eliminated the first leadership team, then the second. Now we have a different group, at a different level, and I believe they are more sensible and operate with logic,” Trump stated.
He mentioned that the new leadership has approved the framework for an agreement and is prepared to follow through.
Trump attributed this shift to the impact of recent military actions, claiming that Iran has suffered significant losses. “They want this deal more than I do,” he added. He painted a bleak picture of Iran’s military capabilities, stating that their navy, air force, and anti-aircraft systems have been severely diminished.
“We have found them to be sensible, and they will negotiate,” Trump reiterated, stressing that the primary goal of the talks is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
His comments are noteworthy as U.S. administrations typically avoid explicitly stating that regime change is a goal regarding Iran. Trump’s remarks suggest that recent military actions may have influenced political changes within the country.
