
Mumbai, June 8: The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has encountered a notorious criminal in Ayodhya. Authorities reported that a reward of ₹1.90 lakh was announced for this criminal. The police are currently pursuing further legal actions in the case.
The criminal has been identified as Bhanu Pratap Singh, also known as Bablu, from the Vidhnapar village in the Belghat area of Gorakhpur district. Officials stated that the STF cornered the notorious criminal near the Aimi Ghat bridge in the Maharajganj police station area around 11 PM. He attempted to flee on a motorcycle and opened fire on the STF team. In the ensuing exchange, he was seriously injured.
Following the encounter, Bhanu Pratap Singh was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
According to the STF, there were approximately 40 serious cases registered against the criminal across various districts in Uttar Pradesh. He had been evading capture for an extended period. The Azamgarh police had placed a reward of ₹1 lakh, while the Ambedkarnagar police offered ₹50,000, Gorakhpur police ₹25,000, and Basti police ₹15,000 for information leading to his arrest.
In a separate incident, the police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) team in Sitapur arrested two notorious thieves. They recovered stolen goods worth around ₹77 lakh, including an Audi and a Skoda car.
The accused have been identified as Yogendra Chauhan and Dharmraj. ASP South Durgesh Kumar Singh stated that the accused Yogendra is also a history-sheeter at the Sadar Pur police station. He is wanted in a registered case at the Mahmoodabad police station and has over two dozen serious offenses recorded against him in various police stations across the district.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had broken into a house in the village of Alabda about 15-20 days ago and stolen jewelry. Additionally, they confessed to stealing ₹15,000 in cash and a bangle from a house in Manwa village 10-12 days ago. They were on their way to Lucknow to sell the remaining stolen jewelry, using luxury vehicles for their criminal activities.
