CM Yogi Appeals to Youth: Embrace Nature with a Learning Mindset

Lucknow, June 8: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged the residents of the state to view nature not merely as a tourist destination but as a living classroom. In a message directed at the people, he emphasized that every creature in nature is an integral part of creation, as recognized by Sanatan culture. He stated that efforts to conserve biodiversity will only succeed with increased public participation.

On Monday, CM Adityanath shared his message via the social media platform ‘X’. He remarked, “The sounds of various insects during the monsoon, the glow of fireflies on summer nights, the chirping of sparrows at dawn, and the calls of mynas in trees have become rare in urban areas. Their dwindling numbers are concerning and pose a threat to life.”

He added, “Modernity is essential, but not at the cost of distancing ourselves from nature. Wildlife is not just a symbol of nature’s beauty; they are essential for a healthy environment. The balance of nature relies on even the smallest creatures. Each being plays a crucial role in the larger cycle of nature, from crop production to the food chain.”

In his message, CM Yogi pointed out, “In Sanatan culture, every creature is considered an integral part of creation. The army of Lord Shri Ram, who defeated the invincible Ravana, included contributions from monkeys, bears, Jatayu, and even tiny squirrels. Humanity, nature, and various creatures are interdependent.”

The Chief Minister noted that nine years ago, when he took office, environmental protection was prioritized by the government. Continuous efforts in wildlife conservation and environmental enhancement have led to an increase in the populations of tigers, leopards, and the state bird, the sarus crane. Additionally, 13 sites in the state have made it to the internationally recognized Ramsar list of wetlands. Species once thought to be extinct in Uttar Pradesh are now reappearing. The extremely rare bird, the Babler, has been spotted in the Terai grasslands after many years, and the presence of the rare Painted Killed Bank snake was recorded in Dudhwa Tiger Reserve after 117 years.

He concluded, “The success of biodiversity conservation efforts will depend on increased public involvement. I urge everyone, especially the youth, to approach nature as curious learners whenever they have the opportunity. The vibrant world of nature can introduce you to its untouched aspects. Share your experiences through blogs and articles. During summer vacations, children should consider these topics for their school projects. Awareness and connection to nature are our greatest guardians of biodiversity.”
