Noida, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The Noida police have dismantled a gang responsible for mobile phone and chain snatching, arresting two suspects in a recent operation. On September 9, officers from the Expressway police station apprehended the duo in Sector 168, recovering three mobile phones from different brands, two chains, a motorcycle used in the crimes, ₹14,500 in cash, and illegal weapons including a .315 bore pistol with a live cartridge and a knife.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sumit, son of Kripal Singh, and Sumit Valmiki, son of Nekram Manoj Valmiki. During interrogation, they confessed to using a motorcycle to target pedestrians in the NCR region, snatching their mobile phones and chains before fleeing the scene.
Investigations revealed that the suspects roamed various areas of NCR on their motorcycle, looking for opportunities to strike. Once they identified a target, they would swiftly grab mobile phones and chains from unsuspecting individuals. They admitted to committing similar offenses in the Sector 113 area of Noida over the past two to three months. The stolen items were sold at low prices to passersby, and the profits were split between the two.
According to police, the suspects used the stolen money to fund their leisure activities. Both men have multiple cases registered against them at the Expressway and Sector 113 police stations. Authorities are now working to gather more information about their other criminal activities.
From Sumit, police recovered ₹7,500 in cash, a mobile phone, a .315 bore pistol, a live cartridge, two chains, and a motorcycle. The second suspect, Sumit Valmiki, had ₹7,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and an illegal knife in his possession. In total, police seized ₹14,500 in cash, three mobile phones, two chains, a motorcycle, and illegal weapons from the two men.
Sumit, aged 23, is originally from Satrohi village in Kasganj district but was residing in the JJ Colony of Wazirpur, Delhi. His accomplice, 19-year-old Sumit Valmiki, hails from Mehona village in Badaun district and was living in a rented house in Shahpur village, Noida.
