Noida, June 13: The investigation into the high-profile Noida compensation scam has intensified, with the Special Investigation Team (SIT) filing six separate FIRs. This action targets three former law officers of the Noida Authority and several associates, linked to an alleged compensation fraud exceeding ₹100 crore. The case, which has been under scrutiny for years, is now entering a legal phase following the completion of the investigation.
Reports indicate that in 2021, significant irregularities were uncovered regarding the distribution of additional compensation related to land acquisition in the Gejha Tilpatabad village. Complaints escalated to the courts, prompting the Supreme Court to order the formation of the SIT. During its extensive investigation, the SIT recorded statements from farmers and beneficiaries, examined documents, and scrutinized financial transactions.
The investigation revealed that the then-law officers of the Noida Authority—Rajesh Kumar, Dinesh Kumar Singh, and Virendra Kumar Nagar—allegedly colluded with intermediaries to manipulate the compensation distribution process. Additionally, leaders from the Samajwadi Party, including Vijendra Kumar Tyagi, Rajkumar Tyagi, and Rajkumar, have also been implicated in the case.
Allegations suggest that an organized syndicate collected cash commissions of up to 10% from beneficiaries out of the additional compensation sanctioned by court orders. Furthermore, the investigation uncovered that fake bank accounts were opened in the names of beneficiaries, leading to embezzlement of millions. The agency asserts that this entire network exploited the compensation process to misappropriate government funds for personal gain.
Sources indicate that during the Supreme Court hearings, serious remarks were made regarding the investigation, resulting in directives for a thorough inquiry. With the investigation now complete, preparations are underway for questioning, arrests, and further legal actions based on the filed FIRs. Notably, the investigation will be conducted by a gazetted officer associated with the SIT, ensuring impartiality and effectiveness in the inquiry.
