Jaipur, June 21: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express from the Khati Pura railway station in Jaipur on Sunday. This new train service will enhance rail connectivity between Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, fostering regional development.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. He noted that Khati Pura is an old railway station, and the inauguration of its terminal marks a historic gift for Jaipur, Rajasthan. All trains arriving from this direction will stop here. During his visit to Bihar, residents had requested a direct train service between Darbhanga and Jaipur. Today, that dream is becoming a reality. The launch of this train is expected to benefit economic and cultural prosperity between Bihar and Rajasthan. He mentioned that previously, people faced difficulties, but the new service will provide significant convenience for travelers. More trains are expected to operate from this station in the future.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that Jaipur is a rapidly growing city. To accommodate this growth, significant work has been done to enhance railway capacity. Three main areas of focus include increasing the number of platforms at stations, improving train maintenance facilities, and establishing mega terminals around the city. A mega terminal has been constructed at Khati Pura to meet Jaipur’s needs, with arrangements for the maintenance of approximately 450 trains monthly. Modern systems have been implemented to maintain today’s advanced trains, including Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat, at this facility. This infrastructure will significantly contribute to Jaipur’s development over the next 20 years. Future services will connect to Delhi, Jodhpur, and Bikaner, with an additional facility planned for Sanganeer for Sawai Madhopur.
He also mentioned his visit to Bikaner, where he flagged off a train to Ahmedabad. In the next five years, substantial changes are anticipated, with over 200 trains expected to operate from Rajasthan, greatly benefiting passengers and nearly eliminating waiting list issues.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari shared that she participated in the inauguration of the Jaipur-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express and the Bikaner (Lalgarh)-Ahmedabad (Sabarwati) Express train, alongside Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
She stated that under PM Modi’s visionary leadership, Indian Railways is undergoing unprecedented transformation. Through modern technology, world-class facilities, improved connectivity, and passenger-centric development, the railways are becoming a strong foundation for the country’s progress. The Jaipur-Darbhanga Amrit Bharat Express will provide a safe, convenient, and affordable travel option for millions of passengers, students, workers, and traders, while the Khati Pura Mega Coaching Terminal will enhance modern rail infrastructure, ensuring significant improvements in train maintenance, operational capacity, and service quality.
