NIA Files Charges Against Main Accused in Gujarat Online Terror Radicalization Case

New Delhi, July 24: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against the main accused in an online terror radicalization case in Gujarat. This case is linked to banned terrorist organizations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) and Al-Qaeda (AQ).

The accused, Faizan, has been charged under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Bombing and Explosive Substances Act, and the Arms Act in a special NIA court in Ahmedabad.

The NIA took over the investigation from the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in March 2026. The inquiry revealed that Faizan conspired to separate Kashmir and Ladakh from India and was in contact with an operative of JEM based in Pakistan to further this plot. Following credible information, the ATS Gujarat registered an FIR after Faizan’s arrest.

The NIA’s investigation also uncovered that Faizan planned targeted killings to incite unrest and hatred against India. He illegally acquired a weapon and six live cartridges from Uttar Pradesh without a valid license for this purpose. The weapon was seized during the investigation.

Under the guidance of his online handler, Faizan was radicalizing impressionable youth to promote violent jihad and armed rebellion, aiming to undermine India’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity.

During the investigation, the NIA recovered several objectionable videos and images from his digital devices, leading to the charges against Faizan.

The investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the conspiracy.
