
Patna, May 27: Bihar has officially implemented a new land purchase policy. The Bihar Cabinet approved the Bihar Land Purchase Policy 2026 during a meeting held on Wednesday.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the Cabinet approved a total of 27 significant agendas. Among the decisions, the establishment of an independent spine sub-specialty unit under the Orthopedics Department of Patna Medical College and Hospital was sanctioned, creating a total of 39 new positions.
The meeting also approved a proposal to provide medical facilities for legislators and government employees. This includes cashless medical services for current and former members of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and their dependents. Serving and retired officers of the All India Services, regular state government employees, pensioners, and their dependents will also benefit from this initiative under the Bihar Government Health Scheme.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved the creation of 57 positions across six new branches under the Special Planning Directorate of the Youth, Employment, and Skill Development Department. It also sanctioned the transfer of seven previously approved positions to create a total of 55 positions in six new branches of the already established “Directorate of Student and Youth Welfare.”
Furthermore, the meeting sanctioned the establishment of an additional court for District and Additional Sessions Judges in Madhubani (Sadar) and one court in the Benipur sub-division under the Darbhanga jurisdiction, resulting in the creation of two new positions.
The Cabinet also approved the Bihar Medical Education Service Recruitment, Appointment, and Promotion (Second Amendment) Rules 2026. According to the government, this will address the shortage of senior residents and tutors in government medical colleges and enhance the quality of medical education. Additionally, the Bihar Special Survey and Settlement Amendment Rules 2026 were also approved.
