Indian Armys Red Shield Division Hosts Yoga Session at Leimakhong Military Station

Imphal, June 18: In preparation for International Yoga Day 2026, the Indian Army’s Red Shield Division organized a yoga session at the Leimakhong Military Station. A significant number of soldiers participated enthusiastically in this event.

The primary aim of the session was to enhance the physical fitness, mental resilience, and overall health of the soldiers. The yoga session included various postures, breathing exercises, and mindfulness activities designed to improve flexibility, concentration, endurance, and mental balance.

A statement highlighted that this initiative reflects the Indian Army’s commitment to promoting overall health among its personnel and encouraging a positive lifestyle.

Participants were encouraged to incorporate yoga into their daily routines and to raise awareness about its benefits within the community. The event conveyed the message that yoga is not only a practice for physical health but also a pathway to building a healthier, stronger, and more balanced society.

International Yoga Day will be celebrated on June 21, with extensive preparations underway across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the national celebrations for the 12th International Yoga Day (IDY) 2026 in Kolkata. Prataprao Jadhav, the Union Minister of State for AYUSH and Health and Family Welfare, announced that the main national event will take place on the historic Red Road in Kolkata under the Prime Minister’s leadership.

Additionally, the Ministry of Culture will host special Yoga Day programs at 100 prominent locations across the country. The AYUSH Ministry is also organizing the ‘Ganga to Ganga Sagar: Ganga River Yoga Journey’ from June 13 to 20, linking yoga with environmental awareness, river culture, and community participation.

Since its adoption by the United Nations in 2014, International Yoga Day has been celebrated worldwide every year on June 21.
