Madhya Pradesh to Recruit 60 Outstanding Athletes Annually in Police Department

Bhopal, June 17: The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a significant initiative to promote sports and athletes in the state. Starting this year, 60 positions will be directly filled with outstanding athletes, including 10 sub-inspector and 50 constable roles. This move aims to ensure respectable employment for athletes while encouraging them to continue their training and competitive preparations.

In line with this initiative, the Home Department has made important amendments to the ‘Madhya Pradesh Police (Appointment of Outstanding Athletes) Rules, 2021.’ A notification has been published in the official gazette. The revised rules aim to make the selection, eligibility, and evaluation process for outstanding athletes more transparent, organized, and effective. Talented athletes in Madhya Pradesh will now have opportunities in government service. They will be eligible for direct appointments as 10 sub-inspectors and 50 constables.

According to official information, the recruitment process through the sports quota will now be held regularly each year. This will provide athletes with permanent job opportunities. This historic step promotes sports culture in the state. The Police Headquarters’ Selection and Recruitment Branch will advertise vacancies for constable and sub-inspector positions annually.

Athletes who have participated in the Olympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games, along with medal winners, will also be eligible for direct recruitment. Outstanding athletes will receive full exemptions from specified educational qualifications and physical standards (height). They will also be exempt from written exams and physical efficiency tests. Appointments for outstanding athletes will fall under the unreserved (general) category.

Direct appointments to the sub-inspector position will only be granted to those outstanding athletes who have won medals or participated in international competitions such as the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Cup, or World Championships. Athletes who have won gold, silver, or bronze medals or participated in these events will be eligible. For the constable position, medal winners from national games and recognized national championships will qualify for direct recruitment.

Athletes who meet the eligibility criteria for the sub-inspector position will also automatically qualify for the constable position. Those who have won gold, silver, or bronze medals in the national games or recognized national championships will be eligible for direct recruitment as constables.
