New Delhi, August 2: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the counseling for the All India Quota (AIQ) of NEET-UG 2026 will commence on August 4, with the academic session starting on September 8.
In a message shared on social media, the NTA confirmed the schedule for the AIQ and state quota counseling for NEET-UG 2026.
According to the released schedule, the first phase of counseling for the All India Quota and deemed universities will take place from August 4 to August 17. The deadline for submitting applications is August 22, and verification will occur on August 23.
The first phase of state quota counseling is set for August 13 to August 22, with candidate verification scheduled for August 29.
Additionally, the second phase of AIQ counseling will run from August 24 to September 2, while the second phase of state quota counseling will take place from August 31 to September 8.
The NTA has stated that the final date for applications for both AIQ and state counseling, after the third round of counseling and filling remaining vacancies, will be October 10.
The academic session for undergraduate courses is set to begin on September 8.
In a circular addressed to medical colleges, the NTA urged the continuation of the admission process even during holidays.
The NTA has instructed all participating institutions and colleges to consider all Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays as working days, given the limited time available for counseling and the need to adhere strictly to the schedule.
Furthermore, the NTA mentioned that the data of admitted candidates will be shared with the MCC for seat processing during the third round by the DME/state counseling authorities.
On July 16, the NTA announced the results of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. This followed student protests against irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 exam, which had been canceled on May 3. In response, the central government recently dismissed 47 NTA officials and decided to initiate legal and criminal action against them.
