Noida, March 3: The National Capital Region (NCR) has seen significant relief from pollution due to strong surface winds over the past few days. According to the meteorological department, this favorable condition is expected to continue, potentially leading to further improvements in the air quality index (AQI). Currently, approximately 90% of the NCR is no longer classified in the severe category (red zone).
In various areas of Delhi, air quality levels have been recorded as moderate to poor. Data from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) and other agencies show that Anand Vihar has an AQI of 291, which remains at a high level. Other areas such as Bawana recorded an AQI of 236, Ashok Vihar at 221, and Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range at 220. Alipur and CRRI Mathura Road reported AQIs of 186, while Aya Nagar showed a relatively better AQI of 161. Chandni Chowk recorded an AQI of 199, and the Commonwealth Sports Complex had an AQI of 204.
In Noida, all four active monitoring stations reported AQIs in the moderate range. Sector 125 recorded an AQI of 207, Sector 62 at 169, Sector 1 at 232, and Sector 116 at 210. Ghaziabad’s Loni area was the most polluted, with an AQI of 249. Indirapuram recorded an AQI of 202, Vasundhara at 216, and Sanjay Nagar at 168.
The meteorological department’s three-day forecast indicates rising temperatures and continued strong surface winds in the coming days. On March 3, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 32 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 15 degrees. The temperature is projected to rise to 33 degrees on March 4 and could reach 34 degrees by March 5. Fluctuations in humidity levels are also anticipated. Meteorologists state that strong winds help disperse pollutant particles, leading to improved air quality.
