Several locations are close to or within the red zone, indicating a hazardous level of pollution.

Along with pollution, the biting cold and dense fog have added to the discomfort of residents. According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures continue to fall, and fog is prominent during early mornings and evenings. In Noida, all four active monitoring stations recorded unsatisfactory air quality levels. Sector-125 (UPPCB) reported an AQI of 273, Sector-62 (IMD) 218, Sector-1 (UPPCB) 282, and Sector-116 (UPPCB) 274.

These figures indicate the orange zone, showing pollution levels well above the normal range. Ghaziabad also experienced concerning air quality, with Indirapuram (UPPCB) recording an AQI of 173, Loni 210, Sanjay Nagar 235, and Vasundhara reaching 322, which falls in the red zone. Sensitive groups, including children and the elderly, are advised to take extra precautions.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts moderate fog in Delhi-NCR from 5 to 7 January. Maximum temperatures are expected around 18-19 degrees Celsius, with minimums near 8-9 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels have risen to 95-98 percent, intensifying the cold conditions.
