Ahmedabad, June 24: Gujarat’s Health Minister, Praful Panseria, announced on Wednesday that the state government will take stringent action against all individuals involved in the alleged blood plasma adulteration racket uncovered in Ahmedabad district. He labeled tampering with life-saving medical supplies as a serious crime that endangers patient health.
This statement follows the revelation by the Ahmedabad Rural Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG) that a racket was operating, allegedly replacing genuine blood plasma units with counterfeit products before they reached a pharmaceutical company in Changodar.
Four individuals, including the alleged mastermind, have been arrested, while investigators are probing the larger network behind this operation.
Panseria emphasized that the government will not spare anyone who jeopardizes patient health. A transparent and fair investigation will ensure strict action against all responsible parties. He also praised the Ahmedabad SOG and the officials involved for exposing this alleged fraud.
According to investigators, the operation was initiated after Assistant Sub-Inspector Mukesh Singh Daulat Singh and Constable Merubha Ghanshyamsingh received specific intelligence about suspicious activities within the jurisdiction of the Changodar police station.
The police monitored a suspect and uncovered what they described as a well-organized scheme involving the diversion and adulteration of blood plasma shipments.
The main accused, Dinesh Chaudhary from Banaskantha district, had previously worked as a blood plasma collection executive for pharmaceutical companies. Investigators allege that he utilized technical knowledge gained during his employment to collaborate with Jitendra Solanki and Rafiq Khalifa, who were the driver and co-driver of the vehicle transporting plasma consignments.
The police further revealed that whenever blood plasma consignments were collected from blood banks across Maharashtra, the transport team would inform Chaudhary. Before delivering the consignments to the pharmaceutical company in Changodar, the vehicle was allegedly taken to Chaudhary’s residence.
Investigators claim that genuine plasma units were removed there and replaced with counterfeit plasma bags, while maintaining the necessary volume for delivery.
The Health Minister stated that the state government is taking this matter very seriously and has initiated a detailed investigation into the incident.
