Heavy Rain Warning from September 1 to 3

The INDIA Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of extremely heavy rainfall in the western districts of Madhya Pradesh from September 1 to 3. The department has made it clear that there will be continuous, intermittent rain for the next three days, which may cause waterlogging in low-lying areas and disrupt life in rural regions.

According to weather expert Ajay Shukla, both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea are providing moisture, resulting in persistent light to moderate rainfall across Madhya Pradesh, with the possibility of heavy rain in some places. On Monday, districts including Indore, Dhar, Jhabua, Alirajpur, Barwani, Khargone, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Bhopal, Raisen, Rajgarh, Sehore, Vidisha, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Datia, Guna, Gwalior, Harda, Narmadapuram, Betul, Morena, Sheopur, and Bhind are likely to see intense showers.

A yellow alert has been issued for 19 districts, including Jhabua, Alirajpur, Dhar, Barwani, Dewas, Khandwa, Seoni, and Balaghat. The alert means that weather conditions may have more impact than usual, so local authorities and the public should remain cautious. Meteorologist Devesh Singh also reported the likelihood of storms and heavy rainfall with lightning in Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna-Chitrakoot, as well as moderate rain with lightning in Sagar, Damoh, Sheopur Kalan, Bhind, Datia, Morena, Niwari-Orchha, Gwalior, Shivpuri, Jabalpur, Katni, Narsinghpur, and light rainfall in several other districts.

Rain is also likely late at night in Khandwa-Omkareshwar, Khargone-Maheshwar, Burhanpur, Barwani, Alirajpur, Dhar-Mandu, Ratlam, Jhabua, Ujjain, Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Shajapur, Bhopal, Sehore, Dewas, Rajgarh, and Indore.

Current Weather System

The Meteorological Centre reported that the monsoon trough currently extends from Bikaner, Ajmer, Guna, Damoh, Raipur, and Puri to the Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation is also active over north-western Madhya Pradesh, and a similar system exists over central Rajasthan. There is also a western disturbance near northern Pakistan and Punjab, while another cyclonic system in the north-western Bay of Bengal is further strengthening the weather system. Experts noted that a low-pressure area could develop over the Bay of Bengal on September 2, which may intensify the rainfall.
