Major Police Raid in Nawada Uncovers AK-47 and Rifles

Patna, March 13: In a significant crackdown on illegal arms in Nawada district, police seized an AK-47 rifle, two additional rifles, and a large cache of ammunition during a raid in the Delwa village of the Rajouli police station area.

This operation was initiated based on a tip-off received by Nawada Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman. Upon receiving the information, police swiftly conducted a raid in Delwa village, resulting in the arrest of one suspect.

According to police reports, anti-social elements in the forested areas of Rajouli were extorting money from laborers and contractors under the guise of security or levies.

During a press conference on Friday, SP Abhinav Dhiman announced that a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Gulshan Kumar to probe the matter. This team included local police as well as personnel from the Bihar Special Task Force.

Acting on solid intelligence, the team executed the raid on Thursday evening, leading to the arrest of Ajit Kumar (31). Following interrogation, police discovered an AK-47 rifle, two .315 bore rifles, two magazines for the AK-47, and three ammunition pouches hidden beneath the ground near a mango tree close to his home.

The raid also uncovered three sets of camouflage uniforms resembling military attire. During questioning, the suspect revealed that he and his associates used weapons to intimidate contractors into paying them. Under pressure from ongoing police operations, he had buried the weapons.

Based on his information, police recovered 21 cartridges for the AK-47 and 10 cartridges for the .315 bore rifles. An FIR has been registered at the Rajouli police station, and legal proceedings are underway.

SP Abhinav Dhiman stated that the identities of other gang members have been established, and efforts to apprehend them are ongoing.
