Patna, August 14 (Kiran News) – The monsoon is currently active across Bihar, prompting the Meteorological Centre in Patna to issue a yellow alert for 26 districts on Thursday. The department has also warned of lightning strikes in central and eastern parts of the state.

The districts under the yellow alert are Patna, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Gaya, Nawada, Jamui, Banka, Munger, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Supaul, Madhepura, Saharsa, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia and Katihar.
According to the forecast, these districts are likely to experience strong winds at speeds of 30–40 kmph, thunder, heavy rainfall, and lightning. In Kishanganj, heavy rain is expected in two locations.
The Meteorological Department has also issued an orange alert for Vaishali, Samastipur, and Patna, where heavy rain accompanied by winds of 30–40 kmph is likely. Light rain is expected in several districts of Bihar until August 19.
Authorities have advised residents to move to higher ground in case of waterlogging or flooding, stay away from exposed electrical wires, and avoid open fields or tall trees during lightning activity.
