New Delhi, June 6: The challenges for West Bengal‘s TMC leader Mamata Banerjee continue to escalate. On Saturday, Mohammad Azmal Siddiqui resigned from all party positions, including State Secretary of the Minority Cell, as well as his primary membership in the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC).
In his resignation letter addressed to Mamata Banerjee, Siddiqui stated, “With all due respect, I hereby resign from the position of State Secretary (Minority Cell) and all other responsibilities assigned to me within the All India Trinamool Congress, along with my primary membership.”
He emphasized that this decision was not made lightly. “I have dedicated my time, energy, and commitment to the party, always working in the interest of the organization and its workers. It has been an honor to work under your leadership and contribute to the party’s growth and outreach. However, after much contemplation, I have concluded that I can no longer continue my association with the party.”
Siddiqui pointed out that personal reasons influenced his decision but also expressed deep dissatisfaction with the current environment and functioning of the party.
“For several years, many hardworking and dedicated workers have felt overlooked, sidelined, and deprived of the respect they deserve. The democratic spirit that once encouraged dialogue and collective decision-making has significantly weakened. The genuine concerns of grassroots workers often go unheard, leading to growing discontent among loyal party members.”
He specifically mentioned the difficulties he faced working under Abhishek Banerjee‘s leadership and approach. “In my experience, his perspective on party matters and communication with workers has created an atmosphere where long-serving and loyal members feel diminished and marginalized. The concentration of power and lack of proper consultation with party workers have made it increasingly challenging for individuals like me to fulfill our responsibilities effectively.”
Siddiqui expressed gratitude for the trust and responsibilities bestowed upon him during his tenure as State Secretary (Minority Cell). However, due to the aforementioned circumstances, he requested the acceptance of his resignation from all positions, including his primary membership in the All India Trinamool Congress. He concluded by wishing the party success in the future.
