New Delhi, April 26: The state-of-the-art OTMC complex was inaugurated in Puducherry on Saturday. This marks a significant step towards strengthening India’s maritime system. The inauguration was conducted by Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, DG Paramesh Shivmani.
During the event, DG Paramesh Shivmani opened the advanced OTMC administrative complex at Coast Guard District Headquarters Number 13 in Puducherry. This occasion is considered a crucial move to bolster India’s maritime security, especially in light of the increasing security needs along the eastern coast.
The newly constructed complex embodies the concept of “modern force, modern infrastructure.” It has been designed to enhance both operational efficiency and administrative capabilities. An advanced operations center has also been established, providing a unified platform for command, control, and coordination in collaboration with the maritime rescue sub-center located in Puducherry. This will enable a swift and effective response to emergencies arising in the maritime domain.
Coast Guard District Headquarters Number 13 is responsible for the coastal areas of Puducherry and central Tamil Nadu, monitoring an extensive maritime area of over 140 nautical miles. This headquarters plays a vital role in ensuring the safety of life and property at sea, protecting the marine environment, and safeguarding India’s maritime interests. The establishment of the new administrative complex is expected to further strengthen and enhance these operations.
