Mizorams EMRS Ngopa Wins Zonal Youth Parliament Competition, Secures Spot in National Finals

Aizawl, July 15: EMRS Ngopa, an Eklavya Model Residential School, has proudly represented Mizoram by winning the Zonal Youth Parliament competition organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. This remarkable achievement has also secured the school’s place in the national finals of the competition.

Previously, EMRS Ngopa claimed first place in the Northeast regional round held in March 2026. Following their outstanding performance at the regional level, the school advanced to the Zonal-I competition. On July 15, the competition took place at EMRS Kumulung in West Tripura, where Mizoram’s team faced off against the regional champion schools from Sikkim and Jharkhand. With an impressive presentation and a strong understanding of parliamentary procedures, EMRS Ngopa emerged victorious in Zonal-I.

The team from Mizoram will now compete in the national finals against the winning schools from the other three zones in the country. This achievement is considered a significant success for the state in the fields of education and extracurricular activities.

The National Youth Parliament Competition aims to raise awareness among students about the Indian parliamentary system, democratic values, good governance, and civic responsibilities. It seeks to develop logical thinking, leadership skills, confidence in public speaking, and an understanding of democratic processes among students.

Currently, there are 11 operational Eklavya Model Residential Schools under the Mizoram EMRS Society, with a total of 2,852 students enrolled. EMRS Ngopa, which includes 303 students, is among these schools. This achievement is seen as a major success for the state’s education sector and is expected to inspire other students to excel at the national level.
