Group of Maharashtra Residents Stranded in Nepal Returns Safely to India

Mumbai, August 29: A group of Maharashtra residents stranded in flood-affected areas of Nepal has safely returned to India, as reported by the Chief Minister‘s Office (CMO).

These citizens were rescued from difficult conditions in Nepal after concerted efforts by officials. Upon their safe arrival in India, they expressed their gratitude to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis via video call for the immediate assistance and support provided by the state government.

According to the CMO, the citizens thanked the Maharashtra government and the Chief Minister’s Office for their swift action, coordination, and ongoing efforts that ensured their safe return. During the virtual conversation, they also expressed relief at being able to come back to India after their ordeal in Nepal.

After the safe return, Chief Minister Fadnavis stated that the timely rescue was made possible due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. He emphasized that the central government ensured immediate assistance reached the affected citizens and made necessary arrangements for their safe journey back.

The Maharashtra CMO posted late last night on X, confirming that the citizens had returned safely to India and were heading towards Maharashtra. The office highlighted the coordination among state government officials involved in the rescue operation.

Earlier, on August 28, the CMO had reported that, thanks to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s efforts, tourists from Maharashtra stranded in Nepal due to floods were successfully evacuated.

Among them, 106 tourists have reached Bihar, where the Chief Minister’s Office has arranged for their accommodation and meals. The offices of the Chief Ministers of Maharashtra and Bihar are in constant contact, working together for their safe return. These tourists are scheduled to travel by train from Patna to Nagpur on Saturday, with necessary assistance being provided by the office of Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to facilitate their journey.
