New York, August 29: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to address a major event at the renowned Madison Square Garden in New York this Saturday. The gathering is expected to attract over 5,000 attendees from 39 states across the United States.
Event spokesperson Priya Samant shared that the program will commence at 2 PM, bringing together participants from 85 cities. More than 200 organizations have partnered for this event. Samant stated, “This event celebrates the Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ which means the world is one family.”
She emphasized, “We can all coexist peacefully, despite our differences. Through this event, we aim to promote that message, involving people from all walks of life.”
The program will feature a blend of cultural and spiritual elements, uniting individuals from various religions. It coincides with the Raksha Bandhan weekend, symbolizing security, care, and the bonds between individuals. Indian-American youth will perform devotional songs during the event.
Organizers noted that the registration process received an overwhelming response. Although registration has now closed, it was initially open to everyone. Those unable to attend in person will have the option to watch the event online.
Samant remarked, “We received so many requests to attend that we had to close registration, but it was open to all initially.”
Members of the Indian-American community connected to the event highlighted its significance, especially during a time of global conflict and division. Avinash Gupta stated that this gathering reflects the timeless Indian cultural philosophy that the world is one family. He added, “In this divided world and challenging times, it is even more crucial for us to unite and spread messages of unity, peace, and harmony.”
Additionally, Ankur Vaidya, a volunteer with the Federation of Indian Associations, urged New Yorkers and the broader American community to join in. Vaidya said, “We appeal to the larger American community and the people of New York to participate and seek the truth in what we want to share.”
He further explained, “The purpose of this event is to bring everyone together and convey a message of collective well-being.”
Samant also addressed potential opposition to the event. She stated that in a free society, people have the right to express their opinions, and dialogue is the path forward when disagreements arise. She noted, “We may have differences, even deep ones, but we can still come together and discuss our differences at the same table.”
She added, “Dialogue does not mean endorsement, listening does not mean agreement, and understanding does not mean abandoning our differences. ‘Unity’ does not mean ‘sameness.’ It means we can have differences and still work together.”
