Bengaluru, April 28: A devastating fire broke out at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in the Nandini Layout area of Bengaluru around midnight, causing chaos among residents. Over 30 women were forced to jump from the building to escape the flames. Videos and CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media on Tuesday.
The incident has raised serious concerns about safety standards and regulations in PG accommodations across Bengaluru. Eyewitnesses reported that the quick response from local residents and the timely evacuation efforts prevented a larger disaster. Before firefighters arrived, nearby individuals assisted in the rescue operations.
According to police, the fire ignited around 12:40 AM on Monday. Initial investigations suggest that a short circuit at a nearby LED banner shop may have triggered the blaze, which rapidly spread to the adjacent four-story PG building. Within minutes, the entire structure was engulfed in smoke and flames.
Due to the rapid spread of the fire and blocked exit routes, many women had no choice but to jump from the building to save their lives. CCTV footage from the area captured young women leaping from the structure in a desperate bid for safety.
In the viral videos, girls and women can be seen screaming for help as they escape the inferno. Fortunately, police officials reported that there were no casualties from this incident.
