Lucknow, August 10: Mayawati, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party, has launched a strong attack on the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She highlighted the demolition of the Gurughar of Sant Guru Ravi Das in Tughlakabad in 2019 and the subsequent protests against this act.
As the Punjab elections approach, Mayawati accused the BJP of attempting to divert public attention from Sant Guru Ravi Das’s ideals by organizing a Kalash Yatra in his name. She urged the community to remain alert to the political strategies of both the BJP and AAP, emphasizing the need to spread the messages of respect, equality, and justice that Sant Ravi Das represents.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Mayawati stated, “On August 10, 2019, the sacred Gurughar of Sant Guru Ravi Das was demolished in Tughlakabad, Delhi, under the presence of bulldozers and heavy police forces. When devotees protested peacefully, they faced police brutality, including baton charges, tear gas, arrests, and legal cases. Many were imprisoned.”
She further noted that the land of the Gurughar was taken away, forcing devotees to pay their respects under a temporary iron shed. This situation continues to hurt the sentiments of millions of followers and remains etched in the community’s memory.
Mayawati added, “With the Punjab elections nearing, the same BJP is trying to mislead society by organizing a Kalash Yatra in the name of Sant Guru Ravi Das, diverting attention from the goal of establishing Begumpura.”
She also mentioned that when the wall of the Gurughar in Dhalehta village, Punjab, was demolished, both the community and the BSP raised their voices, leading to arrests. Ultimately, the AAP government had to yield and facilitate the reconstruction of the Gurughar.
Mayawati urged society to stay vigilant against the politics of the BJP and AAP. She called for a commitment to the ideals of Sant Guru Ravi Das, emphasizing the importance of the journey from Tughlakabad to Dhalehta village, where the community is respectfully invited to participate.
She concluded by appealing to the public to spread the ideals of Sant Guru Ravi Das regarding respect, equality, and justice, and to strengthen the resolve for a society free from oppression, in line with the dreams of Sant Guru Ravi Das.
