Bengaluru, August 31: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar targeted Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Monday, stating that he is not fighting against Congress but rather against the BJP.
During a media interaction near the Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru, Shivakumar responded to questions regarding Kumaraswamy’s allegations of the state government’s involvement in the alleged KPSC recruitment scam.
Shivakumar remarked, “Kumaraswamy is not fighting against us. He is fighting against the BJP. Let him do his work. He can make whatever allegations he wants.”
In response to Kumaraswamy’s claim that he would release documents that would stir political upheaval, Shivakumar simply said, “That’s very good to hear.”
Addressing the BJP’s proposed padayatra (foot march), the Chief Minister stated that the party is free to conduct the march, and Congress will announce its own program later.
He added, “Let them have their padayatra. After that, I will inform you about our journey. Are we not politicians? We conducted the assembly session with respect, but they did not discuss any issues.”
Shivakumar expressed the government’s intention to discuss the K. Kasturirangan report related to the Western Ghats and issues concerning farmers, indicating that legislators’ opinions will also be sought.
Regarding the alleged KPSC recruitment scam and the arrest of BJP leaders, the Chief Minister mentioned that he would not interfere in the investigation.
He stated, “I will not intervene in the investigation. I will only gather information. There is internal conflict within the BJP. Who appointed the KPSC members? Until the full report is available, I cannot disclose all the information. Let them say what they want; time will provide the answers.”
During the discussion, Shivakumar also elaborated on the government’s proposed sixth guarantee scheme, ‘Land Guarantee.’ He clarified that this scheme will not be limited to Bengaluru.
He emphasized, “The Land Guarantee is not just for Bengaluru. It will apply to all those who have given their land or property to the government. Their names should be permanently recorded, and they should receive appropriate compensation.”
He mentioned that the government is arranging to provide beneficiaries with legally valid documents containing photos and other necessary details.
Shivakumar clarified, “The documents must be completely legally valid. The process of converting B-account to A-account must also be done legally. Fake registrations will not be allowed.”
He added that receiving legally valid documents will facilitate future property transfers, loan acquisitions, or family divisions, ensuring that property rights remain secure.
The Chief Minister noted that this initiative began during Siddaramaiah’s previous term when Krishna Byre Gowda was the revenue minister. The current government is now advancing the same initiative.
