BJP President Criticizes Kejriwals Claims on Voter List Changes

New Delhi, September 1: The President of the Delhi BJP, Harsh Malhotra, criticized Arvind Kejriwal on Monday for his remarks regarding the voter list, which reportedly saw a reduction of nearly 4.7 million names following the Special Identity Registration (SIR) process. Malhotra labeled Kejriwal’s criticism of the Election Commission as a reflection of his chaotic political style.

Malhotra described Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister and national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party, as a leader adept at spreading confusion and making false statements. He emphasized that Kejriwal’s comments about the voter list changes serve as a clear example of his disordered politics.

According to Malhotra, the Election Commission conducted the SIR exercise in a fully transparent manner, similar to processes across the country, providing voters ample time to participate. Every voter had the opportunity to submit forms either through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) or directly online.

Representatives from all political parties were involved at the booth level during the SIR exercise. Malhotra pointed out that despite the lengthy process lasting nearly four months, the Aam Aadmi Party never raised any objections until now.

With the draft voter list now released, he accused Kejriwal of resorting to confusion-driven politics once again. Malhotra clarified that the purpose of the SIR process is to ensure that every eligible citizen is registered as a voter in only one location.

He stated that any legitimate voter in Delhi who submitted their form online or through a BLO, along with the necessary documents, has been included in the voter list. Malhotra noted that Kejriwal’s issue stems from the fact that many of his supporters, who were registered in multiple locations, have been removed from the updated voter list following the SIR process.

He urged Kejriwal to present any cases of genuine voters who may have been overlooked to the Election Commission. Furthermore, Malhotra mentioned that if any eligible voter finds their name missing from the draft list post-SIR, they can reapply for voter registration after September 1 by providing proof of their valid voter status in Delhi.
