Maulana Shahabuddin Criticizes India Block for Ignoring Muslim Issues

Bareilly, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Maulana Shahabuddin, president of the All India Muslim Jamaat, has targeted the India Block for failing to address issues pertinent to Muslims during a recent meeting. He expressed disappointment that millions of Muslims had hoped for discussions on social and religious matters, but political leaders instead focused on their own electoral interests.

During the meeting, prominent leaders including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Mamata Banerjee spoke, yet topics related to Muslims were notably absent. Shahabuddin highlighted the need for dialogue on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), decisions regarding madrasas, and ongoing disputes over religious sites. He emphasized that opposition parties should have engaged in discussions on these critical topics.

The Maulana criticized political parties for seeking Muslim votes while showing little interest in addressing their pressing issues. He insisted that Muslim concerns must be raised on political platforms, arguing that merely soliciting support during elections is insufficient.

Shahabuddin also endorsed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statements regarding drug de-addiction efforts in Punjab. He noted that substance abuse affects not just youth but entire families, impacting education and health. The campaign against drugs should extend beyond Punjab to encompass nationwide efforts. He called on the Muslim community to refrain from substance use, citing its prohibition in Islam.

In the context of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, Shahabuddin questioned Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav regarding the party’s choice of candidates. He pointed out that the party has nominated Professor Ram Gopal Yadav and Dhanraj Nathwani, raising concerns about the lack of Muslim representation. He mentioned several Muslim leaders, including Abu Asim Azmi and Azam Khan’s family, who could have been considered for nomination.

Shahabuddin further challenged Yadav to clarify alleged connections between Nathwani and the Gujarat lobby, as well as ties to the BJP. He demanded transparency on these issues.

Additionally, he called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to investigate the financial accounts of the Lohia Trust and individuals connected to the Samajwadi Party, including Akhilesh Yadav. He urged that any irregularities should be brought to light.
