Gandhinagar, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : The Chief Electoral Officer’s office in Gandhinagar announced a special statewide campaign aimed at registering citizens who are missing from the voter list, as well as new eligible young voters. This initiative will take place on four Sundays in October and November at all polling stations.
Scheduled for October 11, 18, 25, and November 1, the special camps will be staffed by designated officials and booth-level officers (BLOs). They will be available from 10 AM to 5 PM to accept claims and objections in the prescribed formats.
This campaign specifically targets first-time voters aged 18 to 19, as well as citizens whose names were not included in the previous voter list. Sandeep Sagle, Gujarat’s Chief Electoral Officer, has issued detailed instructions to all district electoral officers and collectors to facilitate the electoral outreach.
As part of the initiative, electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs) will conduct organized voter education and electoral participation activities in colleges and other educational institutions.
To raise awareness about the registration process and the special campaign days, banners will be displayed in various locations, and local newspapers will be utilized for outreach. The office clarified that the current period is classified as non-SIR (Special Intense Revision), and individuals wishing to be included in the voter list must submit Form 6.
Observers will regularly visit polling stations during the four special outreach days to monitor arrangements and ensure that applications are being received. District election officers, EROs, and AEROs will also conduct random field inspections as part of their supervisory and monitoring duties.
The goal of this special campaign is to ensure that eligible citizens, especially those who have recently turned 18, have the opportunity to register their names in the voter list, thereby keeping the list updated and inclusive.
