Maharashtra Launches Invest Maharashtra Initiative to Create 300,000 Jobs

Mumbai, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the ‘Invest Maharashtra’ initiative on October 1, 2026, under the tagline “Made for Business.” This ambitious program features a proposed investment portfolio of 66 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) totaling over $92.19 billion, or approximately ₹8.58 lakh crore.

The initiative is expected to create more than 300,000 direct and indirect jobs. Addressing global investors, industrialists, and state officials, Fadnavis emphasized that the goal is to link entrepreneurship with grassroots development, providing opportunities for young engineers, local suppliers, and agricultural communities throughout the state.

The newly unveiled logo creatively integrates the “I” from “Invest” with the “M” from Maharashtra, symbolizing the partnership between business and government.

Under the “Made for Business” strategy, the administration promises a single-window accountability system, timely approvals, and proactive dispute resolution. The focus areas for the proposed investments include high-growth sectors such as semiconductors, data centers, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, defense, healthcare, and agro-processing.

Fadnavis stated that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for economic development, aiming to help Maharashtra achieve a $1 trillion economy by 2030. A key objective is to ensure that industrial opportunities extend beyond traditional metropolitan areas like Mumbai and Pune.

The proposed projects will span various regions, including Chandrapur, Wardha, Nagpur, Gondia, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, and areas within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), such as Nashik, Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Ratnagiri, and Palghar.

To support these investments, the state government plans to establish dedicated centers such as education cities, medical cities, and AI and innovation hubs, aimed at linking industrial growth with talent development and research ecosystems.

Setting expectations for the administration, Fadnavis instructed the Invest Maharashtra team to take direct responsibility for projects, continuously monitor progress, and swiftly address regulatory hurdles. He remarked, “Timely decisions can propel a factory forward. Solving a problem can create job opportunities. A clear solution can instill confidence in an entrepreneur to expand.”

The Chief Minister also called on industry leaders to contribute to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to assist agricultural communities facing drought. He urged technology and manufacturing companies to leverage their engineering expertise to enhance resilience in rural Maharashtra through water conservation, efficient irrigation, and wastewater recycling.
