Major Internship Opportunity for Youth in Ladakh Launched by Government

Mumbai, September 2: The initiative to connect the youth of the Union Territory of Ladakh with the government has gained momentum. Secretary Bhanu Prabha announced that the LG Youth Internship Portal, launched by the Lieutenant Governor on August 22, allows young individuals to undertake three-month internships across 25 departments. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 and a certificate of experience, enabling them to understand government operations closely and contribute to the vision of a developed Ladakh.

Bhanu Prabha stated, “As you all know, the Lieutenant Governor (Vinay Kumar Saxena) launched the LG Youth Internship Portal on August 22. He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi envisions a developed India by 2047, but our Lieutenant Governor wants us to see a developed India much sooner. This can only happen if the youth of Ladakh engage with the administration and the community joins us in this journey towards a developed Ladakh.”

She further explained that the portal aims to offer internship opportunities to all youth in Ladakh, allowing them to connect with our 25 different departments for a three-month internship. Each young individual can opt for five departments based on their academic qualifications or prior work experience. The departments will offer suitable roles based on these preferences.

Bhanu Prabha added that the initiative also aims to provide financial benefits to the interns, which is why a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 has been established. She urged the youth of Ladakh to participate actively, noting that the application deadline is September 6. “This is a great opportunity,” she emphasized.

Moreover, she highlighted that this initiative will also benefit the administration by revealing community needs and how to better serve them. The youth will gain firsthand experience of how various departments and the administration function, as well as the challenges they face. “I am confident that, with the vision of our LG, the community and youth, along with the administration, we will soon progress towards a developed Ladakh if we work together,” she concluded.
