Major Food Safety Initiative in Gautam Buddh Nagar: Eight Samples Sent for Testing

Noida, May 28: The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department has intensified its efforts in Gautam Buddh Nagar amid rising temperatures and concerns over food quality. The department is conducting continuous raids and inspections to ensure residents have access to pure and safe food and beverages.

Under the directives of the Commissioner of Food Safety and Drug Administration in Uttar Pradesh and the District Magistrate, teams of food safety officers inspected various food manufacturing units in the district on Thursday, collecting samples of eight food products.

Assistant Commissioner of Food II, Sarvesh Mishra, stated that demand for ice cream, kulfi, soft drinks, and dairy products increases during the summer season. To prevent complaints regarding adulteration and quality issues, the department is actively running campaigns.

In this regard, food safety officers Mukesh Kumar and Vijay Bahadur Patel collected a sample of ice candy from the Lakshmi Ice Cream manufacturing unit in Surajpur, Greater Noida, and a sample of ice cream from the Divine Ice Cream manufacturing unit.

Meanwhile, officers Amar Bahadur Saroj and Ritu Saxena inspected the Goldsmith Retail Services Limited manufacturing unit in Sector 64, Noida, where they collected samples of milk, cream, and red velvet cream from the Nirula brand. During the inspection, it was found that the nutritional information was not labeled on the red velvet cream. Considering this irregularity serious, the department seized 25 containers weighing 2.3 kilograms each until further orders.

Additionally, food safety officers OP Singh and SK Pandey took a sample of ice cream from Quarlie Ice Cream in Sector 73, Noida. Another joint team, including officers Syed Ibadullah, OP Singh, and SK Pandey, collected samples of kulfi and almond shake from the Bhavanath Ice Cream and Cold Drinks manufacturing unit located in Sector 4, Roza Jalalpur, Greater Noida West.

All eight samples collected by the department are being sent to the laboratory for testing. Further action will be taken under the Food Safety and Standards Act based on the reports. Furthermore, in response to complaints regarding the sale of halal-certified food products, the department conducted inspections at various stores in the district. However, no sale of halal-certified food products was found during the inspections.

Assistant Commissioner Sarvesh Mishra stated that inspection campaigns will continue in the coming days. The department’s goal is to ensure that residents have access to safe, clean, and quality food and beverages that meet established standards.
