New Initiatives to Boost Higher Education in Uttar Pradesh: Yogendra Upadhyay

Lucknow, June 10: The Uttar Pradesh government is taking significant steps to modernize and enhance higher education in the state. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state is continuously expanding its infrastructure to strengthen the higher education system.

On Wednesday, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay inspected the under-construction Uttar Pradesh State Higher Education Council building located in Ashiyana. He also inaugurated the newly built camp office of the Directorate of Higher Education, dedicating it to departmental functions.

During the inspection, Minister Upadhyay, along with Principal Secretary of Higher Education M.P. Agarwal, reviewed the progress, quality, and timelines of the construction work. He instructed the executing agency and departmental officials to ensure that the construction meets the established standards and is completed on schedule.

Minister Upadhyay emphasized that the new building of the State Higher Education Council will not just serve as an administrative complex. It will evolve into a crucial center for making the state’s higher education system more modern, effective, and technology-driven. He stated that the completion of the building will accelerate policy-making, academic planning, research promotion, and institutional coordination between universities and colleges.

He noted that under Chief Minister Yogi’s leadership, the state government is actively implementing the National Education Policy 2020. This includes expanding basic facilities in universities and colleges, enhancing access to digital resources, and promoting quality education. The government’s goal is to establish Uttar Pradesh as one of the leading educational states in the country.

After the inspection, the minister inaugurated the newly constructed camp office by cutting the ribbon and unveiling a plaque. He mentioned that the new office will improve coordination among the government, directorate, universities, and colleges, making the review, monitoring, and implementation of departmental schemes more transparent and effective.

Yogendra Upadhyay stated that the state government does not want to limit higher education institutions to mere teaching centers. Instead, it aims to develop them into centers of innovation, research, skill development, and employment-oriented education. To achieve this, there is a strong emphasis on modern infrastructure, digital administration, and a better academic environment. During the inauguration program, officials briefed the minister on the facilities and arrangements available at the camp office.
