
Patna, June 10: The Bihar government is ramping up preparations for the upcoming Shravani Mela. On Wednesday, Lokesh Kumar Singh, the Secretary of the Tourism Department, held a review meeting at the department’s office to assess the ongoing preparations in the districts of Bhagalpur, Munger, and Banka. District Magistrates from the relevant areas participated via video conferencing.
During the meeting, the Tourism Secretary announced that this year’s Shravani Mela will take place from July 30 to August 28. He instructed officials to ensure that all arrangements are completed on time to provide better facilities for the Kanwariyas and devotees. During the festival, there will be provisions for tent cities, toilets, bathing facilities, clean drinking water, uninterrupted electricity supply, Kanwar stands, information centers, and entertainment options.
The Secretary also mentioned that this year, the entire route of the Shravani Mela from Baba Ajgaibinath Dham in SultanGanj to the Bihar border at Dumma will be transformed into a ‘Shivamaya’ experience. This will include grand entrance gates, attractive lighting, special decorations, and the sound of Shiva mantras along the route. Additionally, light and sound shows, fountain displays, laser shows, and drone shows will be organized at the Ajgaibinath temple and various tent cities to showcase the religious and cultural significance of the Shravani Mela.
Special arrangements are also being made for the accommodation of devotees. A tent city with a capacity of 500 beds will be established at the Baba Ajgaibinath complex in SultanGanj. In Banka district, there will be 600 beds in Abarkha, 200 beds in Dhouri, and 250 beds in Godiyari.
In Munger district, tent cities with 200 beds each will be developed in Khaira and Dhobai, while for the first time, 300 beds will be available in Asarganj, 200 in Tarapur, and another 200 in Sangrampur. All tent cities will be equipped with drinking water, health facilities, sanitation, electricity, and Kanwar stands, along with kitchens run by Livelihood Didis. Cultural programs will also be organized during the festival.
National-level artists will perform at the inauguration and closing ceremonies, while state-level and district-level artists will entertain devotees every Monday and on other days, respectively. Present at the meeting were Nandkishore, Managing Director of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited, Udayan Mishra, Director of Tourism and Special Secretary, Himanshu Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of Livelihood, and several senior officials from the department. The government’s aim this year is to make the Shravani Mela more organized, attractive, and beneficial for devotees.
