
Chandigarh, May 24: Punjab Police have dismantled a drug trafficking ring linked to cross-border operations, resulting in the arrest of four suspects. Authorities seized 28.12 kilograms of heroin along with ₹9.5 lakh in cash.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Bagicha Singh and Bhupinder Singh, both residents of Guru Har Sahai’s Bogiwala village. Additionally, Chhinder Pal Singh, also known as Rinku, and another suspect named Sajan were apprehended.
In a significant operation, police not only confiscated a large quantity of heroin but also seized the vehicle used for transporting the drugs.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigations revealed connections between this module and foreign traffickers who allegedly instructed the suspects on how to handle and distribute the drug shipments.
He emphasized that the investigation is ongoing to uncover the entire cross-border drug trafficking network.
Sharing operational details, Assistant Inspector General (Ferozepur) Gursevak Singh mentioned that intelligence had indicated suspicious activities involving Bagicha Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Sajan, and Chhinder Pal in the procurement of heroin from across the border.
Further information suggested that they were directed by their operators to deliver the drugs to another party. Acting swiftly, the police team intercepted the suspects in the Guru Har Sahai area of Ferozepur district, leading to the recovery of 28.12 kilograms of heroin and ₹9.5 lakh in drug money.
The agents were reportedly promised substantial sums of money by their handlers. As the investigation progresses, more arrests and recoveries are anticipated in the coming days.
A case has been registered under Sections 21, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act at a police station in Fazilka.
