Noida, June 19: A theft incident has been reported at a temple located within a high-rise society in Noida. The incident occurred late at night at the Sikka Personnel Green Society temple in Sector 78, under the jurisdiction of Sector 113 police. Unknown intruders broke into the temple, and the entire event was captured on the CCTV cameras installed in the temple premises. The police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
According to reports, two thieves entered the temple grounds around 2:31 AM. CCTV footage shows the suspects wandering around the temple and plotting the theft. The thieves first targeted the donation box, attempting to break it open to access the cash inside. However, they were unsuccessful due to the box’s sturdy construction.
It is reported that the two intruders spent nearly 12 minutes trying to break the donation box. Failing to do so, they entered the temple and broke the lock on a cupboard, stealing various religious and worship materials. The stolen items included a copper snake idol placed on the Shivling, a bell used for prayers, a large lamp, an eternal flame lamp, a copper pitcher, a brass lamp, and other religious artifacts.
After the theft, the culprits escaped by jumping out of a window. On Friday morning, when the temple priest arrived for regular prayers, he found the temple door open and the interior in disarray. Alarmed by the situation, he immediately informed the society’s officials and residents. A large crowd gathered at the temple premises following the news. Subsequently, the CCTV footage was reviewed, revealing the entire theft incident.
The priest promptly called the police via emergency number 112. Upon receiving the information, the police team arrived at the scene to inspect the area. They seized the nearby CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspects. Police officials stated that efforts are underway to locate the culprits based on the CCTV evidence, and they expect to make arrests soon.
