New Delhi, July 23: BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala has targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress, claiming they are using students as a pretext to gain political mileage. He stated that these parties are misleading students in their quest for political advantage.
In a recent conversation, Poonawala noted the contradictory statements from AAP and Congress regarding their involvement in student movements. He highlighted how both parties vie for credit while simultaneously labeling each other as the BJP’s “B-team.” This behavior, he argues, illustrates their attempts to act as political vultures, politicizing student protests.
Poonawala emphasized that the actions of both parties have left students, particularly the Gen Z demographic, frustrated. He pointed out that while AAP claims to support students, their principles differ significantly. When issues arose with the NEET exam, the central government took decisive action, ensuring a fair re-examination process. This was evident to the entire nation. The government has held accountable those involved in the paper leak, while AAP and Congress remain silent on ongoing paper leak incidents in Punjab.
He accused Congress of allowing numerous paper leaks during its tenure, particularly in Rajasthan, yet failing to facilitate any protests against these issues. Poonawala criticized Congress for its dual standards, questioning their sincerity in addressing such matters. He recalled that during previous paper leaks, Congress leaders like Sachin Pilot were vocal, yet their current protests seem disingenuous.
In response to the participation of opposition parties in the CJP protests, BJP spokesperson Shah Nawaz Hussain remarked that their attempts to show solidarity with students have only fragmented the INDIA alliance. He noted that leaders from AAP and other parties are eager to join the protests, indicating a deeper division within the alliance. Hussain accused these parties of politicizing the issue and obstructing meaningful dialogue.
