
Hyderabad, March 31: Authorities at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad have made a significant drug seizure. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and Customs officials confiscated hydroponic weed valued at approximately 8.9 crore rupees from two Indian passengers arriving from Bangkok.
The DRI and the Customs Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) seized 25.45 kilograms of hydroponic weed based on intelligence reports. The passengers were detained after arriving on flight FD-118 from Bangkok. During the inspection of their luggage, officials discovered several packets containing a green, crumbly substance. Tests confirmed that the substance was hydroponic weed, a potent form of cannabis.
Officials seized the illegal substance and registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985. Both passengers have been arrested. This seizure was part of increased surveillance on international drug trafficking routes.
Investigations are ongoing to trace the source, network, and intended destinations of this restricted substance. Officials are also looking into potential links to international drug syndicates.
Meanwhile, Cyberabad police have dismantled a drug racket, arresting four suspects. The KPHB police uncovered the operation near the JNTU metro station, seizing marijuana, MDMA, and LSD during the raid.
Acting on reliable intelligence, KPHB police successfully disrupted a drug trafficking operation in KPHB Colony, arresting four individuals involved in the illegal sale of narcotics.
According to police, the suspects were engaged in suspicious activities around a scooter. Upon stopping and searching them, officers recovered 150 grams of marijuana, 4 grams of MDMA, and 9 LSD blotter papers.
During interrogation, the main suspect revealed that they were sourcing marijuana, MDMA, and LSD from a contact named Abhishek in Bengaluru, selling them at inflated prices in Hyderabad for quick profits.
Drugs were being supplied via courier services, with payments processed through digital platforms. Police continue to investigate to identify and apprehend others involved in the drug supply chain.
